Modern vs. Classic

Time to take sides. Do you align more with the clean, sleek look of the Modern design? Or are you more partial to curves and soft lines in a Classic design?

I'm Team Modern all the way. Although I will say, I am loving the items I pulled together for the Classic look. Add some Calacatta Mable and the Classic would be timeless and breathtaking.

Peach Bridesmaid Dress

I get the honor of being a bridesmaid in one of my friend's wedding this summer. We go way back to elementary school. She's letting us select our very own peach bridesmaid dress. THANK YOU! Naturally, I started a Pinterest board to start gathering ideas (lots of peach dresses if you're in the market). Here are some of my personal favorites at the moment. And they are very budget friendly too. Take the quick poll below and let me know what you think!

Almost that time

I know Autumn just started so I shouldn't be thinking about fireplaces and hot cocoa just yet but I can't resit these beautiful fireplaces.  I found some real beauties and a little variety for everyone out there. (sorry, there's nothing super traditional though) So take a look and then vote away. I want to know which of the below fireplaces is your favorite!

I'll give my vote away. I love number one because it's modern yet very warm and rustic. It will be be city fireplace. And I'll take number three for my super chic country house. Yes, that's how stylist my country house will be. Who says you can't have glamor in the country?!

Color Me Pretty

Many women stray away from wearing bold colors like red or orange. I personally love them. I made some inspirational boards to help you embrace these vibrant colors. Let me know which is your favorite and the set you would actually love to wear.

This one is right on trend with colored pants. Embrace the pants and style them with classic pieces. Can't go wrong with this sophisticated and trendy ensemble.

decisions

I have such a difficult decision. Luckily, the outcome will be fantastic no matter what I decide. Dave Matthews Band just officially announced they will be back again at the amazing Gorge this summer. But this year it is a caravan. This means Dispatch, John Butler Trio and many other great bands will be there this year for three days. I told myself last year that wasn't going to go to Dave again this summer. But now with this festival style concert I am not sure if I can resist. Yes, I already have already seen DMB 6 times (always wonderful). Or I could opt out of DMB this year and go for option two which are a set of 6 fabulous vintage chairs! They look like the Cesca Cane chair. I could spend my money on this great set of chairs that I have been dreaming about since I saw them in the consignment store. Now the dilemma....Dave Matthews Band Caravan concert tickets or Set of Vintage Cane Chairs. HELP!

DMB Caravan.....
Or six of these chairs...

Which one would you pick?!

campaign dilemma

Lovelies, I need your help! I bought this FABULOUS campaign dress on a whim a while back for $40 on craigslist. I know, awesome. But now, I can't decide if I want to give it a new fresh coat of white paint or paint it black. Decisions. ahhhh. (I still need to polish the knobs. it took me thirty minutes to do just one knob. I lack patience for that. Once I get around to getting them polished it will look better too).
This is my cutie. It looks like he is floaty in my room but he is indeed against a small wall in my tiny apartment. Back to the left are the built in shelves in my closet area. To the right is my old dresser that has been placed in the hallway until I give it to a loving home (humm goodwill). Yeah, I swear my apartment isn't a sea of white like this picture makes it appear.

I just came across this lovely black campaign dresser from Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day! I am kind of digging this look. It is more snazzy and gentleman appropriate.

So keep it white or paint it black?!
(or a color...red, emerald green. thoughts.)

sofa decisions

Deciding on the perfect sofa is extremely challenging. It has to carry you through the years with new decor and home changes and seamlessly fit into all of it. My boyfriend is searching for a new sofa and we are stuck on two sofas that we can't decide between. Oh, and we have this lovely constraint of a 29" doorway. Yeah, that made finding sofa even more difficult. Okay, so lets hear your input. The pictures aren't the best examples of what the sofas truly look like so use your imagination.

#1. The Martin Sofa
A mid-century modern, clean line sofa that has a low profile. It is 90" long (that is rather long) and a very deep depth of 35". It is in a menswear inspired fabric that is called flint.via.

#2. The Townsend Sofa
(well, a sectional really. Or sofa with chaise.)
A comfortable sofa that is prefect for lounging. It is a more modern take on a sectional. Two cushion sofa with a chaise. It is about 95" long and has a fairly deep depth of around 32". The fabric is a textured blue/gray blend (yeah, the color in the picture doesn't look right).
via.

Final deciding notes: Both sofas are extraordinarily well made and come with a lifetime guarantee on the cushions and frame and 1 year guarantee on the fabric. So quality isn't an issue with either sofas. Both sofas hover around the same price range. The sectional is a little bit more but the floor model has an excellent price reduction.

Okay, so which one do you prefer?!

time for a change...

I am wondering if it is time to give a little new look to the blog. Is it in need of a little freshening up? I am thinking of updating the header. I am sticking with the same font and chevrons but just changing up those elements. So I need your opinion on which header to use!

#1. The current header. It is simple and it is now a classic.

#2. The refined header. I love the new more subtle and interesting chevrons.

#3. Yes, it looks like number two but has a little font added to the bottom of the header. It reads, " a lovely little blog of inspiration, life, and happiness".

So which one is your favorite?! Number 1, 2, or 3?

Update 7/21: Well, I didn't go with any of the options. (as you can tell). I decided it was best to keep the original and just add a little something to it. Hope you like it.

Candy Wars

Joel and I got into a discussion on which chocolate & peanut butter candy was better. We are both stuck on our favorites and won't budge. You can help us crown a winner. I am sticking with M&M's (hello, it's my initials too) and he stuck on Reese's Pieces. So which one do you love more? Take the poll over on the right side column. Thanks.
