Cabin Design

I have been loving Sarah Sherman Samuel's design blog Smitten Studio. I'm sure you've come across one of her photos on Pinterest of her brilliant cabin renovation or the beginning stages of her home renovation. This women has FABULOUS style. Well, I decided to take the floor plan to her cabin and dream up my own little design. Take a look at my creation and then do yourself a favor and check out the transformation of the real cabin.
and now to my design creation....

First let's start with the living room, entry, dining room, and dog corner:

White Marble

Nowadays, I spend quite a lot of time dreaming, designing, and studying kitchens and bathrooms. I cannot help but notice my love for white marble. How can you not love it though? It's beautiful. It's perfect in any pattern...herringbone, bricked, stacked, and hexagon. What's your favorite marble and pattern?

Recurring

Clearly, I have a thing for the Eames Dowel Leg Chairs. This are just a few of my dining pins that happen to showcase these beauties. Once we move, I'm hoping to sell my current chairs and purchase a set of Eames replicas. Oh, how lovely it will be.

Modern vs. Classic

Time to take sides. Do you align more with the clean, sleek look of the Modern design? Or are you more partial to curves and soft lines in a Classic design?

I'm Team Modern all the way. Although I will say, I am loving the items I pulled together for the Classic look. Add some Calacatta Mable and the Classic would be timeless and breathtaking.

Wet Room

We're currently working on a bathroom for a client with some sticky spacial dilemmas. Our new thought is to incorporate the tub and shower in one space to create a wet room. I am really digging this look and idea. Here are some of my favorite inspiration photos of Wet Rooms.  Would you ever have your shower and tub all enclosed in one space?

Name to Know: Pigeon and Poodle

I recently received the loveliest catalog in the mail at work. It's from this fabulous company called Pigeon and Poodle. They sell stylish bath accessories, baskets, and frames. It's refreshing to see home accessories with style and flair. The company just launched and they're to the trade only (designers and showroom, get on it). Let me know your thoughts on their products and enjoy the new find.

I cannot decide which series is my favorite. There are too many items that I love. I am really partial to the Cannes collection. But then again that Manchester collection is rather wonderful too....

Stamp it Out

I am a big fan Antiquaria's custom stamps. They always have creative ideas on how use their stamps in easy, beautiful ways. Check their ideas out on Oh So Beautiful Paper.

Fix it Up

The idea of buying an old home and fixing it up to my exact likings is something that is incredibility intriguing to me. I'll pass on that brand new house. I want charm and the ability to create. I fell in love with these after photos of this bathroom. And the transformation makes the after that much better. So dark and dated to modern and airy. I'm totally digging it. I'd changed a few thing personally...I'd have to add a handheld to the shower and I'd use the Toto Aquia toilet instead. But overall, I'll take it.

Curbless

If you are remodeling or building a new home, I urge you to go curbless. What am I talking about? The curb is that threshold between the shower area and rest of your bathroom. It is typically there to restrict the water from flowing into the rest of your bathroom (here is a typical shower with curb). You probably don't think much about the little edge. But think about getting old and having to step over that curb, or being in a wheelchair and being restricted by it, or how easy it is to trip over the barrier and hurt yourself. It's a safety concern and an unnecessary nuisance. So make your life easier and cleaner....go curbless. I recommend the ARC shower systems to achieve this look.

One of the Prettiest

I came across this photo shoot on Jose Villa's blog and it is just breathtaking. It's charming, classic and all sorts of beautiful.  I highly advise jumping over and looking at all the rest of the photos. Every single vendor involved nailed it.

Dornbracht

My friend told me that I was a cat lady that's become a faucet lady. He's partly correct as I have become an awesome faucet lady. But I will always be a cat lady. Now I just need my cat to cuddle up to a beautiful faucet and all in the world would be right. But seriously, working in the fixtures and fittings department, I've come to greatly appreciate the craftsmanship and design behind faucets (and my other gems in the plumbing world). Dornbracht is the company that I would spend all my money on to have in my home. I mean, look at what they offer. The quality of their product cannot be surpassed either. Swooning. If you were designing your dream bathroom now, what faucet would you go with?

Marvelous Monotone - Friday's Fancies

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's Friday and I'm happy. This week on Friday's Fancies we're working with monotone. When trying to style around one main color palette it is important to remember pattern, texture and hues. Add slight variation while still maintaining a uniform look. Enjoy this weekend.

Naturally Modern

One of my favorite things about Houzz and Pinterest is the ability to visually present patterns. You pin or add photos that catalog your taste. It makes it very apparent of the styles, trends, or items that you gravitate towards. You can see how your style matures and changes over time. For myself, my style has become more clean line, masculine, natural, and simpler. I think it's partly due to my array of jobs in the interior design industry that have shown high style. And partly due to my boyfriend and matching his design needs as well. Right now, I'd categorize my interior/design style as Naturally Modern. So where is your interior/design style now?

Kitchen

One item that is a non-negotiable in my future home is an undermount, single bowl sink. I don't even want to see a double bowl or top mount sink. Not allowed. But what I really want in my dream kitchen is a Shaw fireclay apron front sink, Dornbracht faucet and silver travertine slab (make it 5cm). Pretty simple if you ask me. Also threw in some Hans Wegner wishbone chairs while you're at it. What's in your dream kitchen? Or your non-negotiables for your kitchen?

This kitchen doesn't have any of my three items from above but it is just damn good looking.

Back to School

I love fall and back to school fashion. So even though I've graduated college and won't be learning in a classroom this fall, I've still created the perfect back to school look. You can't go wrong with cords for fall and they are on my current "must-have" list (it's a long list). Animal motifs are going to be huge this fall and you this fox is the cutest. Hello, adorable. And in my dream outfit, this cape and backpack would be with me. I can live in fantasy land. So what are your back to school must haves? Or on your fall clothing wish list?
