Surprise!

I spent this past extended weekend in New York City. Yep, we disappeared from the gross Portland rain and enjoy the amazing weather in NYC! We jetted across county to surprise Joel's Dad for his birthday (Happy Birthday, Michael)! The surprise was a smashing success. We had a such a fantastic weekend! We saw three shows (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Mamma Mia, and  Memphis), ate lots of tasty food, walked around the city, took in a museum and had an all around good time. I'm so happy I had the pleasure of joining in on the birthday festivities in NYC. It was a perfect getaway.
We manged to fly into Philadelphia and see one of dearest friends too before heading to NYC!

We stayed at the very swanky, Royalton Hotel. It was serious beautiful and I highly recommend staying there! We even scored a balcony with a view of the Chrysler Building. Also, take a minute to enjoy a drink at the bar, Forty Four, and order the Ginger Julep. Delicious.

I'm ready to head back again.

simple

I found the most fantastic little blog this morning. It is a simple graphical comparison of Paris and New York. They are adorable, witty and so very true. Check them all out here.

I am sorry

I came across these pictures right after I had finished my breakfast...bad idea. I thought it going to come back up (so gross. so sorry). But can we talk about the hideousness and gaudiness of Rush Limbaugh 's NYC apartment! FOUL. I wouldn't expected anything well designed but this is just too much. Okay, I am done. Can't look any longer.

Hey Dad, want to buy me this home?

"Nestled on Manhattan's fashionable Upper East Side location, this stunning single-family gem is situated in a most charming townhouse block. This fabulous four-story plus finished basement has been gutted and impeccably renovated to the utmost perfection with the finest contemporary amenities. The house is flooded with sunlight; the front faces south and the back faces a pretty garden vista. This is a fully automated Smart House. There are seven air-condition zones, nine heating zones, and two laundry rooms in the basement and on the top floor."
I mean it only costs $9,995,000. So who wants to buy this amazing home for me? You can even live there too!

I have returned.

Hopefully someone out there has missed me this past week. I am now back in Portland! I had a fantastic time in NYC, Philadelphia, and Boston! I never take pictures. I know, roll your eyes. So I don't have any pictures to show you. I do have John Mayer's 3x5 song to leave you with. The lyrics are appropriate. I will leave you with some highlights of my trip below.

3x5 - John Mayer

-Managed to leave my blackberry in a car in NYC. People have good hearts and I got it back!
-Went to TopShop in Soho! Love that store.
-Saw the off broadway show of Avenue Q.
-Went to Ellis Island and whole bunch of other tourist things.
-Went to Mood Fabrics.
-Visited my dearest friend, Michelle and her husband in their new house in Philadelphia.
-Froze in the chilly weather in Boston. But it never rained on us!
-Bought a fabulous art print while on Charles Street
-Went on the Duck Tour in Boston. It was actually rather fun!
-Ate delicious food everywhere we went.
okay, so we did a whole lot more but I won't bore you all to death. Basically, I had a fabulous time! Glad to be back in the lovely, warm fall weather of Portland!

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Saturday morning I will be boarding a plane to the east coast! I am very excited. Let me know if you have any last minute ideas for me in NYC, Philadelphia, and Boston!

Industrial-Chic

Ace Hotel is in New York now. Interior Design magazine just did a feature on the west coast hotel and its new location in NYC! I haven't stayed in the hotels here in Portland or Seattle (no need for a hotel here) but I still love and admire their design! Very urban hipster. Check out the photos from Interior Deisgn magazine below. Fabulous.
