Because

I am totally digging this print. It is adorable and simple. There are so many awesome prints from The Love Shop. I have this cute guy in my bathroom.

6th Street Design School

This morning we continue our new series called "three things that make you smile". I have the honor to introduce our next guest....the adorable Kristen from 6th Street Design School. Her blog is a recent find for myself and I have been loving it ever since the day I stumbled upon it. She has such a fresh, young, and fun design taste that I love. Here are the three things that make Kristen smile....

My son Jett makes me smile everyday!
My Living Room is my favorite room in my house and is totally "smile-worthy"!
Beautiful fabrics make me smile. I can't get enough of them!

Bid away

Okay, so I am a sucker for faux bamboo. It is such a classic and glamorous style that I just can't get enough of. So I rounded up some of my favorite pieces over at ebay. Enjoy. How do you feel about faux bamboo furniture? overdone, still love, think it's ugly? spill.

High Gloss

Did you see the sneak peek photo that Paloma released for the very anticipated High Gloss Magazine launch next week? Oh, I can't wait. The room is so livable and inviting. I want the rug. Does this photo make you excited for the launch too?

with jeans

If you know me then you know that I have a love for dresses. Well, I am proud to announce that I wear jeans quite frequently now too. I still always strive to look presentable but sometimes a girl just needs to have a "bum day" (for me that's jeans). This lovely zip up is now in my collection and helps me achieve my "casual chic" look. Pair with a v-neck, jeans, and brown boats and it is good to go. The sleeves on it are awesome too.
I spent a whole weekend in search of awesome kilim, ikat, and navajo inspired interior element while in AZ with the family. Now the design has followed me to Portland.

swoon

I was just sweating away at the gym when I received a lovely email informing me that Rue was live. I checked out the new issue as soon as I got home.....And it is filled to the brim with amazing images. I am looking forward to re-reading it later but here are some of my favorite images that jumped out at me while browsing through it this morning. Enjoy. And go check the issue out.

campaign dilemma

Lovelies, I need your help! I bought this FABULOUS campaign dress on a whim a while back for $40 on craigslist. I know, awesome. But now, I can't decide if I want to give it a new fresh coat of white paint or paint it black. Decisions. ahhhh. (I still need to polish the knobs. it took me thirty minutes to do just one knob. I lack patience for that. Once I get around to getting them polished it will look better too).
This is my cutie. It looks like he is floaty in my room but he is indeed against a small wall in my tiny apartment. Back to the left are the built in shelves in my closet area. To the right is my old dresser that has been placed in the hallway until I give it to a loving home (humm goodwill). Yeah, I swear my apartment isn't a sea of white like this picture makes it appear.

I just came across this lovely black campaign dresser from Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day! I am kind of digging this look. It is more snazzy and gentleman appropriate.

So keep it white or paint it black?!
(or a color...red, emerald green. thoughts.)

other photos of white versions here, here. or multiple versions here. black version here.

Shopping away

Can Jamie of Furbish Studio do any wrong? Nope. This girl rocks. Check out all the awesome new stuff that she added to her store today. I am digging all the custom trays and coasters.

21

I think Adele is one of the most talented musicians these days. No question. Her voice is unbelievable. If her newest album, 21, isn't number 1 on the billboard charts in the US then I will be so disappointed with American's musical choices. The new album is seriously amazing!

In the loving mood

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. It is also a great excuse to throw a party...maybe a mingling social event or an evening with the girls or an intimate party for two. Wouldn't receiving one of these cards make this holiday a little more fun? I do love the colors tied to Valentine's Day but not so much the ridiculous rise in rose prices.
cards here.

I made this festive Valentine inspired mood board....
...to get you in the mood.

I just came across these FREE downloads of 2011 calendars and thought I would share them all with you. (psss. there are three more on their website too). I actually like the modern & fun typography over the chevron one. unusual, I know. Get yours here.

twill and velvet

You know that feeling when you see something and you cannot focus on anything else because it as stopped you dead in your tracks? Yeah, well that just happened to me when I came across this photo. Can we talk about serious style?! The bookshelves, chairs, patterned rug, velvet sofa, exposed wood beam...oh me oh my.
Love the chairs in this room but are on a more refined budget? Check out Overstock from some great options that can't be beat. #1 and #2. Seriously, wow.

Obsessing

This girl wants an upholstered headboard...I mean I really really want. I just love the extra layer they add in the bedroom. I also love any opportunity to use fabulous fabric. I am currently digging the shape of Michelle Adam's yellow floral headboard. I would love to upholster my future headboard in a masculine, graphic pattern cut in an intricate, feminine shape. Thoughts? Do you love upholstered headboards? Is it worth a DIY or should I invest in a well made one?

(this would be may shape of choice but an a more "manly" fabric)
