Find Your Place

Thanksgiving is fast approaching. I'm rather giddy about it too. It will be my first Thanksgiving in Maine! I've taken it upon myself to make the table festive. I haven't quite decided what I'll be doing but I plan on scavenging the outdoors for assistance. So yesterday, I started scheming and made some mock up table settings. We will see what I end up doing. But I've already printed off these awesome I am Thankful printables so I'll be ready. Get them too on Sissyprint. I like where my ideas are going though. Hopefully everyone will appreciate my festive table. We will see...

take a seat

It's crazy to think that the holidays are just around the corner! It still feels like summer in Portland. It got up to 80 degrees today. But I'm getting really excited about creating some tablescape for all the fall and winter festivities. I might just have to throw some dinner parties so I can fill my lust for beautiful tablescapes. Here are some delightful ideas...

Natural Elements. I love the idea of bringing in some grass that's growing right outside your front door. It's a simple and vertical arrangement that definitely feels like fall.

Again simple and vertical center arrangements. Even you can master this.
left via. right via.

A group of "like" items that are cohesive and in a singular color. These simple pumpkins and vases take a fresh approach with a little paint. Think of all the great grouping you could spray paint and center together....candle sticks, plastic animals, jars, pine cones, etc.

This table is fantastic. Colorful paper (felt/fabric would work too) circles arranged in a organized runner. Beautiful wood rounds to add height to terrariums filled with succulents. These runner would be very easy to create. I'm thinking solid gold metallic, black and white dots and a black and white patterned dot to add a layer.

Add color! It's best to keep your vases cohesive so your tablescape doesn't start looking too crazy and all over the place. See how the different vases in the same color works here with all the vibrant colors? Strike a balance.

Think beyond flowers. I already mention adding vertical height with grass, leaves, or feathers to make a great center piece. What about some greenery? Ferns and moss. There's always a plentiful amount of these outside.

Throw some unexpected objects on the table. Add layers beyond the table setting and floral arrangements. Pine cones and antlers are not expected but not too far fetched either. This table might be the perfect validation to buy antlers and use them for my Christmas table.

Any creative tablescape ideas running through your head now? How will you make the perfect tablescape? Any more ideas for me?

This picture post is a bit delayed but I figured no time is better than now. So here is my little table setup at my boyfriend's place for a holiday dinner and gift exchange. So festive. Oh, and now the holidays are over and moving on to the next.

future table?

Could this be my inspiration for a lovely holiday table decor? I think so. I love the woody, winter, and non-christmas vibe of the table. I do like a lot. Mother, I think we should make our Christmas table like this. Okay. thanks.

Tablescape

I am in table design dreamworld. I am really into creating lovely tablescapes. I am hoping to create one for my upcoming birthday (Halloween birthday. yippee) and am finding some of the most lovely inspiration. All these beautiful photos are from Yes, Please and their Hitched Photo Roll. Check out all the fun tables below.
I am seriously digging metallics (I spy lots of gold). A golden horse figurine (cute even if horses scare me). Pinks and aquas. And HELLO chevron patterned napkins.
rock candy. enough said.
rustic but not too cutesy. A very inviting table that makes you want to sit around and chat for hours (preferably with lots of wine or delicious cocktails).
painted burlap. genius way to add more color and glamour to hard-working textile.
Simple flowers in low, small vases with black accents and mood lighting galore.

I told you there were lots of beautiful tablescapes! Oh, I want to throw a party now. Do you have a favorite element from the tables?

Polka Dots

Can we just discuss this beautiful table that Cassandra from Coco + Kelley created for her birthday? I am super jealous. It is so sophisticated while still remaining very playful and youthful. The metallics, polka dots, confetti, pink, and flowers! ohh.

In Search of...

A pedestal table. Correction... a SMALL pedestal table. I still don't have a table for my dining chairs to go around. I need a pedestal table to fit in the tight space that is around 30" diameter. And I need to get it through my 26" doorway. Let me know if you know of any great tables!

Wheat

I saw this Sheaf of Wheat table in Lonny Magazine (issue 3) and immediately fell in love. It is so whimsical and fantastic! And they have one on VandM (one of my favorite websites to browse). So who wants to purchase this little beauty for me and send it to me? You can occasionally find them on ebay too!

dining table

My roommate and I bought this dining room table last summer. I just wish ours looked half as good as it does in this home.
